Increasing the availability of quality fodder for dairy production in Bangladesh

Triticale is a man-made crop developed through an intergeneric cross of rye and wheat. Although it was originally developed as a grain for acid soils and dry areas, some lines of the intergeneric cross had a high biomass and were found to be suitable for both fodder and grain that is, i.e. they were dual type. Fodder is obtained by ting by cutting the green plants twice, at 35 and 50 days after seeding, while the matured grain can be produced using ratooning tillers.
