All of the map services created as part of
the Mexico rural poverty mapping project can be used directly
with ESRI's free GIS browser - ArcExplorer. The following
instructions provide details on how to do this.

to obtain ArcExplorer and follow the download & installation
instructions provided by ESRI..
2. Open ArcExplorer. Click on the "Add
Layers" toolbar button .
This will open the "Catalog" menu.
3. In Data Sources, click on the + sign next
to WWW, then double-click on "Add Web Site".
4. In the "WWW Connection" menu
type "www.cimmyt.org/GIS/povertymexico"
into the URL field. Click OK.
5. From the list of services that appear, select
one of "povertycrops" or "povertyenvironment"
or "povertysocial" and click on the "Add Layers"
button .
The map service should now appear in ArcExplorer.
Note: The actual display of the map service
layers can not be changed within ArcExplorer, but the order
of display can be changed, local layers of information (shape
files and geo-referenced images) can be added and queries
/ information retrieval can be undertaken.
